A Kundalini and Yin Yoga Workshop with Maitri Shakti Kaur and Agnes Vitalis to explore the many aspects of Shakti ~ female creative energy~
About this Event
It is truly fascinating to observe the polarity of Shakti, said to be the spark that manifests the thought of Shiva. Shiva is the Mind and Shakti is the Catalyst that creates matter out of its own thought.
In the energetic practice of Kundalini Yoga, as taught by Yogi Bhajan, we perceive Shakti as full creative power in motion, dynamic and radiant. Yin Yoga complements and further explores the elements of Shakti, echoing the warmth, creative and nurturing characteristics, but draws inwards to find peace and stillness.
Through this workshop the combination of these two practices will bring a sense of awakening within. When we embody Shakti fully there is an awareness of the polarity of two forces within, which are both equally part of our feminine qualities. This is especially potent in our modern-day lifestyles, with the constant need to tap into different spaces in order to feel fulfilled in our existence.
In this workshop you will experience:
Sound Healing with Chinese Wind Gong
Kundalini Shakti Meditation to Embracing the feminine Power Within
Herbal Tea and Biscuit
What you can expect from this workshop:
A deeper relationship with your femininity

About Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga has a wealth of teachings for women with an incredible focus on women as the embodiment of the divine creative energy. As a woman growing up with the teachings of Kundalini Yoga, I was taught that I am powerful, I am graceful, I am divine, I am to be respected and honored and loved.
The teachings of Kundalini Yoga for women are transformative and empowering. They give a strong sense of confidence and self-esteem built on a foundation of understanding the aspects of the divine feminine that are within each us.
Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan is described as the yoga of awareness, it uses specific combinations of asanas (posture), pranayam (breathing), mantra and deep meditation to connect mind, body and soul. Regular practice brings a sense of wholeness from where we can move forward and realize our highest potential.
About Yin Yoga:
Yin is a soft, grounding practice associated with the lunar, feminine energy. With support from props, poses are entered in a gentle way and held for up to five minutes. On a physical level this targets the connective tissues and fascia and lubricates the joints, allowing the body to release and let go of accumulated tension. On an emotional level, yin gives space and time to still the mind and explore it through the sensations of the body. This builds resilience of the mind and cultivates a deep state of nurturing relaxation.
Maitri and Agnes were inspired to manifest this beautiful women’s workshop after meeting this summer in Sri Lanka.
About Maitri Shakti Kaur
Maitri Shakti Kaur is a devoted, dynamic and joyful teacher.
Maitri has been practising many styles of Yoga and Meditation including Kundalini, Iyengar, Jivan mukte, Restorative, Yin and Dru Yoga; exploring the art of mindfulness from the Zen Buddhist teaching of Thich Nhat Hanh and deepening her experience with 5 Rhythms which is a form of active meditation created by Gabrielle Roth.
Her interest on personal evolution brought her recently to take part of a course for a new technique called, the Metamorphic Touch, a simple and effective awakening massage that allows clients to experience their natural state of being letting go of mental and physical limitations.
Maitri feels her journey has reached a sort of completion attending “Beyond Addiction The Yogic Path to Recovery” in September 2015- 2016, taught and mentored by Sad Dharam Kaur. She is now supporting students with her knowledge and compassionate approach coming from her personal experience with a basic ayurvedic prospective and yogic lifestyle.
Maitri has trained as a Kundalini Yoga teacher with Sky in 2011-12, taught and mentored by Guru Dharam Kalsa.
In 2011 she has successfully completed a course with Siri Arti Kaur, founder of“Starchild”(Yoga for children age 4 to 16), bringing a creative and fun aspect to her teaching which not only children benefitted from but probably even more so her adult students. She complemented this training with the“Clown Therapy”course in 2009 for children recovering in hospital.
She has also been a certified Reiki 1 facilitator-healer since 2008 and attended level 2 in 2016 in Portugal.
Kundalini yoga has been the most powerful tool she has come across in her journey of self discovery through all the various disciplines she practiced and trained on, for the personal experience it gave her to inspire others in the same path.
Maitri has offered her service at a rehab centre – “Crouston Oak Lodge” and “The Passage” – a charities for homeless where she share the teaching to help on recovering from addiction with alcohol and drugs.
Complementing her yoga practice, she also teach how to integrate Ayurvedic nutrition into her students daily lives to improve the functioning of the systems in the physical, mental and spiritual body.
It is her wish that every living being, young or old, experience using these tools to heal themselves and to celebrate the infinite potential and truth that lies within each of us.
About Agnes Vitalis
Agnes is a compassionate and vibrant soul, full of loving, positive energy.
Agnes first discovered yoga in Rishikesh, India, during her initial world-wide travels in 2006.
Here, she studied Hatha, and has since practiced many styles of yoga, including Vinyasa,
Ashtanga, Yin, Restorative and Meditation. After returning from her travels, Agnes found that
yoga really helped her find stability and balance within the hectic London-lifestyle. Yoga gave her grounding and stillness despite the surrounding chaotic whirlwind. She returned to India to train as an Ashtanga-Vinyasa teacher, and later qualified in Yin to complement her teachings.
She has a great interest in Buddhism, and has studied at monasteries in both Nepal and Northern India.
From a young age, Agnes has always found a deep connection with the power of movement, studying dance at conservatory level. As a Craniosacral Therapist and Reiki Healer, she is passionate about healing through touch and energy, and has found that this is a perfect partner to yoga.
Over the last three years Agnes has worked in various yoga schools and studios in India, Bali and Sri Lanka, on teacher trainings, retreats and public classes, and now returns to Europe to share her experience here. Agnes creates a positive and supportive atmosphere in her yin classes, with calming and peaceful offerings. As a teacher, she is sensitive and attentive to others’ needs, and aims to guide her students to find tranquility within themselves. Her wish is for all to find gratitude for the wonderful gift of life, and to leave her classes feeling grounded, serene and content in themselves.
Agnes is passionate and motivated to learn and grow, and enjoys supporting and guiding others through their own journey.
All workshops listed here are independently run and organised and simply hosted in Light Centre venues. The Light Centre is not responsible for any content, claims or bookings for these events. Any queries must be addressed to the organisers directly.
