ONLINE – 5 Week Yoga Nidra Foundation Course with Helen Monson
A few of the benefits confirmed by the medical field are increased immune function, digestive function, and better sleep. The gifts of Yoga Nidra are the releasing of old habits and thought patterns and reducing fatigue, worry, and stress.
Yoga Nidra can be practised by anyone of any age, size or shape. This is not a physical exercise, but a technique for physical rejuvenation, mental relaxation, spiritual growth, and overall wellness. According to yogic thought, unregulated stress is the root of most physical and mental ailments today. The secret of Yoga Nidra (and to better health) lies in its ability to relieve tension and stress at its root and restore a balanced state of mind and a deeply rested body.
You can do anything in Yoga Nidra so, even though our “normal” lifestyles are restricted presently, we can live on through our world of Yoga Nidra …
Yoga Nidra or “yogic dreaming” is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping. It is the “going-to-sleep” stage and is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of audio instructions. It is a systematic method of inducing deep physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. The practice is done while lying down on one’s back. The eyes are closed and the body is made completely comfortable. This state of consciousness is different to meditation in which concentration on a single focus is required. It involves deep relaxation with inner awareness.
In this Foundation Course you will learn the basic stages/steps of Yoga Nidra, the background and science behind it and how to use the practise in order to clear subconscious patterns, create new ones and awaken deeper states of awareness.
Yoga Nidra will assist you in tapping into your highest potential, allow you to access dream and deep sleep states with consciousness and approach life with more empowerment.
There will be 5 sessions via Zoom of 75 minutes each forming this Yoga Nidra Foundation Course.

About the Teacher
Helen (Hridayatma) started practising yoga some 20 years ago. Her practice and life evolved to take her on the path of becoming a qualified instructor in Sivananda Yoga, Yoga Nidra (traditional Satyananda Bihar School of Yoga technique) and Meditation for Yoga Teachers.
Helen is deeply committed to her personal yoga practice and believes this is particularly important to maintain and develop when teaching to share the benefits of that with others and to offer further insight. She has practised yoga and meditation daily for over 10 years with extended stays of several months in various ashrams in India both training and teaching yoga and meditation during that time.
In 2019, Helen embarked on a pilgrimage across India and took Mantra Diksha (initiation into a mantra, which forms the link between Guru and disciple), Jignasu Diksha (for aspirants who serve humanity and perform spiritual practices to cultivate certain qualities in life and become a good citizen) and a spiritual name (Hridayatma) from her Guru, Swami Satyasangananda Saraswati, at the Bihar School of Yoga in Rikhia, India. She also completed the auspicious pilgrimage kora (circuit) of Mount Kailash believed to bring good fortune and help attain enlightenment. It is believed that anyone who completes the kora will clear away the sins of a lifetime.
Helen enjoys reading about Eastern philosophies and exploring the spiritual aspects of yoga, especially in the context of self-study.
Helen’s focus is on sharing the yogic teachings in their traditional form in a light hearted and engaging way whilst drawing on her own experiences too. She finds observing students benefiting from and embracing the practice of these yoga and meditation practices to be an inspiring experience.

A review from a recent student of Helen’s:
“My Yoga Nidra course with Helen was a wonderful experience. Her gentle voice really helped me to realise a deep state of relaxation. I particularly liked the way she explained the background and steps of the practice first so that I knew what to expect from each session and had a good understanding of the theory. Highly recommended!”
