The 7 Chakras that form the energy system for wellbeing

7 Signs of Imbalance in our Energy Centres (Chakras)

Chakras form a part of the Vedic energy system, which is an intricate framework that outlines the flow of universal life energy (Reiki) through the human body, influencing physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. Central to this system are Chakras (energy centres) and Nadis (rivers). These work together to manage and direct Reiki, life energy, throughout the body.

By channeling Reiki to the 7 main chakras, the energy system fills with fresh, positive life energy and moves towards a more balanced and stable place. This brings more peace, harmony and stability to various aspects of life. Imbalance in the Chakras can often show up in different ways.

1. Root Chakra:

Feelings of insecurity, instability, fear and anxiety leading to a sense of not being grounded are associated to Root Chakra imbalance. Other signs of imbalance could be a need for safely and stability leading to inflexibility, or a sense of disconnection from the physical world and your body.

2. Sacral Chakra:

Imbalance in the Sacral Chakra can lead to issues with creativity, intimacy, and your passion for life. These can then exhibit as emotional numbness, low libido, a fear of intimacy, feelings of guilt and shame and a lack of motivation and passion for life.  Conversely if the Chakra is raised it can show up as a constant need for excitement and stimulation, codependent relationships, compulsive behaviours or a lack of emotional boundaries.

3. Solar Plexus Chakra:

The Solar Plexus Chakra is linked to confidence, self-esteem and personal power. When this Chakra is not in balance we tend to feel lack of confidence, low self-esteem, or difficulty asserting oneself this can lead to fear of rejection, difficulty in making decisions and a tendency to avoid challenges.

4. Heart Chakra:

When the Heart Chakra is in balance, we experience inner peace, emotional stability and a deep sense of gratitude and joy. Imbalance can lead being closed off and distant, a lack of self-love leading to self-criticism and low self-esteem. Imbalance can also show up as being overly emotional, an over reliance on external validation and sacrificing your own needs to please other.

5. Throat Chakra:

Imbalance brings challenges with self-expression, fear of speaking up or being overly critical. This may show up as struggles with shyness and difficulties in expressing thoughts and feelings leading to social anxiety and a sense of feeling misunderstood or unheard.

6. Third Eye Chakra

The Third Eye Chakra represents intuition, wisdom and thought and so when in balance we experience clarity of thought, strong intuition, and a connection with our inner guidance. The stress of modern day lives, being always on and always busy are key factors in bringing imbalance to the Third Eye. Imbalance can lead to a lack of clarity, difficulty making decisions, feeling disconnected from intuition leading to poor judgement and difficulty in seeing new opportunities. It can also drive overthinking, procrastination, excessive daydreaming, and a generally busy mind.

7. Crown Chakra

We all receive life energy (Reiki) ourselves and this flows in through the Crown Chakra. The flow can change if the Chakra in not in balance and is either in disparate need of more life energy or is struggling to connect to it. When the Crown Chakra is in balance, we experience a strong sense of purpose that is being guided by inner wisdom and a deep connection to spiritual insight. When imbalanced we may have a lack of purpose, struggle with low mood, feel isolated or we may neglect our physical or emotional needs.

In Summary

Reality and complexity of life today is that often the challenges don’t just exhibit in one Chakra, but a combination of the Chakras being out of balance. For example, stress from work often shows up as imbalances in the Third Eye, Throat, Solar Plexus and Root. Forms of grief may be associated to the Throat, Heart and Root. And low mood may well show the Crown Chakra to be out of balance, however it can also be linked to any of the Chakra as the root cause of the low mood.
