1 hour of Yoga Nidra is as restful as 4 hours of conventional sleep.

A few of the benefits confirmed by the medical field are increased immune function, digestive function, and better sleep. The gifts of Yoga Nidra are the releasing of old habits and thought patterns and reducing fatigue, worry, and stress.

Yoga Nidra can be practised by anyone of any age, size or shape. This is not a physical exercise, but a technique for physical rejuvenation, mental relaxation, spiritual growth, and overall wellness. According to yogic thought, unregulated stress is the root of most physical and mental ailments today. The secret of Yoga Nidra (and to better health) lies in its ability to relieve tension and stress at its root and restore a balanced state of mind and a deeply rested body.

You can do anything in Yoga Nidra so, even though our “normal” lifestyles are restricted presently, we can live on through our world of Yoga Nidra.

Yoga Nidra or “yogic dreaming” is a state of consciousness between waking and sleeping. It is the “going-to-sleep” stage and is a state in which the body is completely relaxed, and the practitioner becomes systematically and increasingly aware of the inner world by following a set of audio instructions. It is a systematic method of inducing deep physical, mental, and emotional relaxation. The practice is done while lying down on one’s back. The eyes are closed and the body is made completely comfortable. This state of consciousness is different to meditation in which concentration on a single focus is required. It involves deep relaxation with inner awareness.

In this Foundation Course you will learn the basic stages/steps of Yoga Nidra, the background and science behind it and how to use the practise in order to clear subconscious patterns, create new ones and awaken deeper states of awareness.

Yoga Nidra will assist you in tapping into your highest potential, allow you to access dream and deep sleep states with consciousness and approach life with more empowerment.

There will be 5 sessions via Zoom of 75 minutes each forming this Yoga Nidra Foundation Course.

No previous experience is required.
All are welcome to join the sessions. For students’ reviews, please click here: http://www.thelotussanctuary.com/reviews/

A rug or mat, blanket and cushion is all that is required or you can do the session sitting up against a wall or sitting in a chair, if preferred.

In 2010, Hridayatma swapped her job as a Partner in a law firm for 2 months in India to train as a yoga teacher with a traditional Sivananda Yoga School, Aarsha Yoga Vidya. The course inspired her so much that she has since returned to India at least once a year for a minimum of one month to enjoy ashram life, practise yoga and meditation and participate in ayurvedic detoxification and rejuvenation programmes. During these times and through her own practice, she has learned much more about yoga both on and off the mat.

In 2018, Hridayatma (Helen) completed a Meditation Teacher Training Course for Yoga Teachers with Swami Saradananda Saraswati (https://yogamentor.yoga/), following which she spent several months in India teaching asanas, practising Satyananda Yoga and studying and practising various meditations from the Tantras, including Yoga Nidra, in a small slice of paradise, Shankar Prasad Ashram (http://shankarprasad.org.in/).

In 2019, Hridayatma embarked on a pilgrimage across India and took Mantra Diksha (initiation into a mantra, which forms the link between Guru and disciple), Jignasu Diksha (for aspirants who serve humanity and perform spiritual practices to cultivate certain qualities in life and become a good citizen) and a spiritual name (Hridayatma) from her Guru, Swami Satyasangananda Saraswati, at the Bihar School of Yoga in Rikhia, India. She also completed the auspicious pilgrimage kora (circuit) of Mount Kailash believed to bring good fortune and help attain enlightenment. It is believed that anyone who completes the kora will clear away the sins of a lifetime.

Hridayatma also qualified as a Yoga Nidra Teacher in 2019 after completing a 200 hour Yoga Nidra Teacher Training Course (YNTTC) at Shankar Prasad Ashram in South India and enjoyed an extended stay in the Ashram teaching Yoga Nidra after the YNTTC.

Thursday 30th July
18:00 – 20:00

Learn how to effortlessly and almost instantly dissolve fears and any other uncomfortable emotions, resistances or attachments, using the powerful Sedona Method™.

It’s based on the idea that you are free and unlimited, other than by holding onto stories you keep telling yourself. Super easy to work with and to DIY, you’ll get a practical tool for Releasing limitations and pulling you into the Here & Now with more courageousness, acceptance and peace.

The Sedona Method is a very unique, simple, powerful & profound, yet practical and easy-to-learn technique that you can use to LET GO.

I’m sure you’re very much aware of the concept of ‘letting go’.

But HOW do you actually do that?

With the Sedona Method you won’t need to ask that question anymore.

You’ll be able to release any uncomfortable emotions, negative thinking, stuff you’ve been carrying around you’d really love to move on from, or limiting beliefs – often right on the spot.

The method allows suppressed emotions and resistance to dissolve, sometimes even without directly addressing them.

Long-term transformation is quick. So you can finally be free of long standing and even life-long issues in a short period of time. This is whether blocks are mental, emotional and even physical.

This is not suppressing, denying or ‘forgetting’ about them. It’s becoming truly free of them.

Let go of stories, expectations and self-perceived limitations.

Releasing these will allow you to become truly open to possibilities.

  • You’ll be able to effortlessly break unwanted patterns & let go of blocks, whether they’re conscious or subconscious.
  • You can expect to experience some immediate results during your session.
  • Its focus is on feelings, not on trying to change thoughts.
  • It focuses on the present moment. You don’t need to go into past (or future) stories or revisit uncomfortable memories.
  • The method is ridiculously simple. You will very easily be able to continue using it yourself.
  • It can be completely content free. So if you don’t want to share stuff you feel is too personal, you don’t have to!

As a result, you can experience

  • Achieving goals far more easily & effortlessly
  • Developing your automatic ability to naturally choose to hold onto stuff or not.
  • Being present and experiencing more of that elusive Power of Now.
  • Directly experiencing a sense & feeling of being ‘unlimited’
  • Becoming far more self-aware
  • Becoming in charge of your emotional & mental state – no matter what your mind is chatting about!
  • Getting super-clear intuition
  • Experiencing more true peace, clarity and joy, no matter what circumstances life throws at you

The method consists of a series of questions I will ask you as you focus on a feeling, belief or limitation you’d like to be free of. And all you have to do is simply answer ‘Yes’ or ‘No’.

After a round of questions you’ll feel a shift. I repeat the process, until it’s transformed or released.

That’s it! It’s practical & ridiculously simple.

“I can’t believe how powerful (and quick!) the Sedona Method has been… I was much more present and less stressed. Maya has helped me learn to release deep seated fears and insecurities and I feel empowered to achieve my goals going forwards.” – Helen H., London, UK

Before the sessions I was feeling shy and insecure, lethargic, unclear, fearful, distracted, irritable & restless. I learned that everything is quite simple really when letting go of anything I hold onto. I now feel much clearer, able to rest into the moment more easily, able to accept myself as I am in each moment and lighten in non-judgment of what arises. Thanks for everything, Maya! You’re work has helped me immensely! It’s been quite the journey, and it’s only the beginning.” – Jill Foster, Morocco

About Maya
Maya Zack (MSc.) is an expert mindset trainer who has been empowering individuals to drop subconscious limitations, fears and beliefs since 2007. She now works internationally, focusing mainly but not only, on mentoring & coaching women who want to set up their own online businesses.

She incorporates both the Sedona Method™ as well as hypnotic techniques, in order to create change on a subconscious level and turn transformation into automatic behaviour.

She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Hypnotherapy and is one of the only Sedona Method practitioners in the UK, having trained under the guidance of Hale Dwaskin, who developed the method, and who had a short part in the film The Secret.

Her work is results-driven, based around the present rather than the past. She believes that regardless of your history, you’re able to access unlimited resources at any given moment, rather than be limited to ideas, stories and beliefs of who you are based on past experiences.

Mental imagery / visualisation is an evidence based method used to help individuals change unwanted behaviours, thoughts and feelings, lowering anxiety, stress, depression and improving self esteem, confidence and happiness.

I use visualisation to help clients achieve their goals anything from bringing them to a deep state of relaxation to helping them increase assertiveness, stop jealousy, build healthy self image, public speaking and achieve their physical goals.

Visualisation is not only used to cope with psychological challenges such as anxiety and depression, but it has been used extensively in sport and bodybuilding.

In his 2004 study on everyday people, Guang Yue, an exercise psychologist from Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio, compared “people who went to the gym with people who carried out virtual workshops in their heads” (mental imagery). He found that a 30% muscle increase in the group who went to the gym. However, the group of participants who conducted mental exercises of the weight training increased muscle strength by almost half as much (13.5%). This average remained for 3 months following the mental training.

So how can mental imagery help with obtaining physical / fitness goals?

Images stimulate the sensory and emotional qualities of the desired experience, acting as a motivational bridge to support achievement of the goal and giving weight to concrete, familiar and easy to imagine goals (eating, exercising, being warm) over more abstract, long-term goals (getting fit, growing muscle).

Psychosomatic is an interdisciplinary field exploring the relationships among psychological, and behavioural factors on bodily processes and quality of life.

Psychosomatics or the body and mind school of thought isn’t anything new, athletes have practised their shots mentally before taking the winning shot since competitive sport was invented, the difference between winning an Olympic medal or not is the amount of time the athlete practiced their skills in their mind.

In 2018 University of Plymouth and Queensland University did a study and found that overweight people lost an average of five times more weight using Functional Imagery Training (FIT) a brief individual motivational intervention that teaches self-motivating skills using mental imagery, compared with talking therapy alone.

Below is the outline of the 3 session course to help you understand what to expect. Each session is one hour long and is done once a week.

Session one:

  • Learn how mental imagery works.
  • Learn how images and words we expose our selves to on a daily bases that we are not even aware of influence our thoughts, emotions and behaviour.
  • Clarify what the body goal we want to achieve.
  • Learn how to choose the right images to create mood-boards that will help rather then hinder us in obtaining our body goal.
  • Homework: create your body goal mood board

Session two:

  • Mental imagery session for achieving the end body goal
  • Clarify familiar and easy to imagine goals that will help us achieve our body goal.
  • Homework: adjust mood-board to include easy to imagine goals

Session three:

  • Mental imagery session for achieving our body goal and the steps required to achieving it.
  • Mood-board final exercise

All participants get one-on-one 15 minute session once a week with Ermina Isanovic.

Introduction to Teaching Yoga Nidra with Laurent Roure

What is Yoga Nidra?
Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of inducing complete physical, mental and emotional relaxation in which the distractions of the brain are contained, and the mind is allowed to be free. During this practice, one appears to be asleep, but the consciousness is functioning at a deeper level of awareness. Yoga Nidra has had a profound transformative effect on those who initiate its powers.

The duration of each yoga Nidra varies between fifteen and one hours, depending on the general level of the students in the class. Yoga Nidra is accessible for everyone, even those who have never practiced yoga before.

Yoga Nidra has a wide range of therapeutic benefits; for instance, it can be a useful tool in managing the symptoms of stress, anxiety and insomnia. Furthermore, its soothing and relaxing character makes it a valuable addition to the healing journey associated with serious illnesses. Furthermore, yoga Nidra offers an opportunity to access a sense of inner peace and satisfaction which is invaluable to say the least.

Laurent Roure has been offering yoga Nidra as a part of his classes, retreats, courses and workshops for over a decade now. He was trained classically by the Bihar School of Yoga and incorporates these teachings into his approach which has been specially formulated for the contemporary citizen. Laurent’s approach is practical, meditative, therapeutic and accessible to everyone who needs to inject physical, emotional and spiritual support in their life.

The Benefits of Yoga Nidra

  • Induces relaxation and facilitates bodily and mental restoration.
  • Minimises, manages and counteracts the effects of stress, anxiety and depression.
  • Creates healthy relationships with our thoughts.
  • Manages sleep disorders and insomnia.
  • Enhances memory and learning capacity.
  • Supports meditation techniques.
  • Clears up the unconscious and awakens creativity.
  • Allows us to get in touch with our inner self.

Who is this training for?
Laurent is pleased to offer a well-structured, concise, practical training for anyone who wants to offer yoga Nidra teacher training as part of their bodywork classes, to private clients or within health-care.

The training starts with the traditional aspects of yoga Nidra within the yogic tradition but will also offer non-dogmatic and creative training using additional alternatives techniques from different non-yogic systems alongside Laurent’s own guided relaxations, breathwork, pranayama and meditation techniques. With these different tools in hand, participants on the course will be equipped to offer practices with varying themes that can be used in a range of settings with students of different needs.

The training is thus open to yoga teachers, movement teachers, complementary therapists, psychotherapists and counsellors, nurses and anyone else who would like to incorporate yoga Nidra into their therapeutic and health care settings. This course is also available to anyone who would like to acquire the knowledge and the wisdom of yoga Nidra and use it for their own discovery and self-practice.

Besides health and wellbeing on a physical level, the training is also intended to raise awareness of the importance of yoga Nidra and meditation for mental and spiritual health. We need more yoga Nidra teachers and practitioners in the world, to help restore harmony and balance, which is so often lacking in modern life.

What are the aims and objectives of the training?
The training and assignments specifically explore how to teach yoga Nidra, this is a practical course, and the content is designed in a way that anyone can access.

Our 1 year 200 hour Yoga Alliance certified Teacher Training is split between Central London (6 weekends over a period of 11 months) and a final intensive week in Southern Spain.

Weekend 1: 26-27 September 2020 (London)
Weekend 2: 24-25 October 2020 (London)
Weekend 3: 12-13 December 2020 (London)
Weekend 4: 20-21 February 2021 (London)
Weekend 5: 27-28 March 2021 (London)
Weekend 6: 1-2 May 2021 (London)
1 Week Intensive: 19-25 June 2021 (Spain)

The format is perfect for people leading busy lives in London, it can still work around other commitments whilst being over a long enough period to really absorb the learning.

The final intensive week in Spain is in an absolutely stunning, tranquil setting at Cortijo Casería del Mercado, a small organic farm high in the Alpujarras mountains of Andalucia. In addition to the huge array of fruit and vegetables grown on site the farm has goats, horses and a peacock breeding sanctuary, the farm also produces its own organic olive oil.

Not only is the cortijo a working farm, it has been adapted as a retreat center with traditional Spanish accommodation, a natural mineral water swimming pool and two yoga shalas, one indoor and one outdoor. Both shared and single accommodation is offered. It is perfect for taking time out, consolidating all of the learnings and putting everything you have learnt into practice.
